Thinning Summer Fruiting Raspberries For Healthy Fruits
Просмотров 450Месяц назад
‼️Avoid pruning in extreme heat as it can stress plants and may cause sunscald fruits. We thin some of the first year canes in spring to early summer as long as the weather is mild. Thinning raspberry canes improves airflow and sunlight penetration resulting in healthier plants and fruits. Didn't grow potatoes this year. Still working them out
Awesome! When can we come over for fries?
Nice group of taters !!!😊👍👍👍
That's awesome sis 😍❤️
Weird question to ask, but do ya also have native american ancestry? Love your videos sistah ❤
Great harvest 🥔🥔🥔
I try to my slightly taters for seed taters
👍👍👍
some amazing size potatoes you collected, they are a like opening a mystery box come harvest time, always enjoyed growing them
Are ajwain seeds connected to Parsely ?
Yes they’re in the same family (Apiaceae).
Wow!! Great garden Misilla. Cindie and I just watched and our very impressed!
Thank you so much guys! I hope you are doing well! How’s Florida?💚☺️
@LearnToGrow1 doing well! Its our 2nd year here and our fruit trees are finally fruiting. We got a good amount of guavas, papayas, strawberry guavas, June plums, and some loquats. Hopefully next year our mango tree will fruit! The weather here is somewhat like Asia so we can grow good tropical things here.
Oh my gosh! That’s awesome! I miss fresh guavas, papaya, and mangoes! Very nice work!
I have some of these plants around our property, but they are light pink and white in colors. I love this one’s you have, the color is so beautiful.
Thank you so much! The light pink is beautiful as well! There are some online stores that sell this color, they call it Carol or pink charm. ☺️🌸
Such a beautiful garden 🪴
Thank you! 🙏🏽💕
Thank you for the advice!
You’re welcome!
🥰😆
😄
When is the best time to eat the head?
Hi if you want to grill head, harvest the flower when young and the seeds are still white and not ripe.
@@LearnToGrow1 thanks! One of mine started to droop down this week but it’s not fully grown and there are no seeds . It’s about the size of a saucer not the massive head it should be growing into. I didn’t know if I should eat it now or if the fact that it started nodding means it’s not good
You’re welcome! Could be due to lack of soil moisture, but if it’s already moist and the soil doesn’t drain well it could lead to root rot. You can check the moisture level by putting your finger down in the soil about an inch or two.
So good to see Paul Gautschi teachings continue. Paul would be proud of you bro. Good work. Almost like watching and listening to Paul.
Is that t-shirt available for sale?
I received this T-shirt as a gift, sorry I don’t know where it was from, it’s been over 4 years.
@@LearnToGrow1 I thought it was merch that you were selling.
@chinatownboy7482 ☺️
Great garden planning advice.
Thank you friend! ☺️🙏🏽
👍👍👍 I have some patty pan seeds, I'll sow them.
Love patty pan squash! They’re so productive! ☺️ Harvest often so they keep producing for you.
Thanks for sharing!! great info :)
You’re welcome and thank you for watching!💚
Anotha great upload sistah ❤
Thank you so much!🙏🏽💚
On page 96 in your lovely book you mention to count back the # of weeks of the first frost to allow adequate time. I don’t think a lot of people think of this and are disappointed when things don’t go right. I’m enjoying your book and keep the videos coming. - Mike
I appreciate your support, Mike! Thank you and will do!🙏🏽 ☺️
Why don’t you do a large worm tub. I’m in 8 b and have one in mostly shade and it’s doing wonderful. It’s a old cast iron tub and it’s full to the top.
Hi, thanks for sharing! We converted one of the 80 gallon compost tumblers into a worm bin several years ago, but still not producing enough. We’ll have to do another bin. Thanks for watching.
Hey Misilla, it's been a while and those plums look delicious...With all of your plums, you could make plum brandy which is also very good...
Hi Manny! I hope you’re doing well! Thank you! I’ll keep that recipe in mind for next year.☺️It’s great to hear from you, enjoy the rest of your summer!
So you don't have to let them dry out any further after harvesting before soaking in saltwater?
Hi I already hanged them up to dry prior to harvesting the seeds. Here’s a link to that video. It’s an old video and the quality is not very good, but hope it helps! ruclips.net/video/Jf1hzLb4Q0w/видео.htmlsi=km-BQICEmFeil2to
@@LearnToGrow1 thank you!

Those look great
Thank you! I hope you’re doing well!
Real nice sis 💯 nothing like growing your own fruits and veggies 👍👍
Thanks brother and I agree 💯! 🙌🏽☺️💚
That's such a great harvest! What do you do with them all? Do you make any foods with them?
Hi! Thank you so much! We’ve shared them with family and friends. I was hoping to make plum jam, but didn’t get around to it, but hopefully next year.☺️
wish i could have a garden as beautiful as yours
Yes, you can! Start small and expand later. ☺️💚
@@LearnToGrow1 thanks for your reply, unfortunately my location makes it impossible but one day when I have garden space I will be growing again,, For now it is all dreams and gathering ideas from you 🙂
@MichaelMoss-cr9sh You’re welcome.☺️
Auntie looks so pretty.
Thank you ☺️
Wow how many years does it take to grow a tree that big?
Hi Mike! I planted the tree in spring 2020 when it was two years old in a 30 gallon pot, then transplanted it in the ground in 2022. It had flourished since then. We got a few plums last year, but most of the flowers fell off from a late spring frost. It’s planted in the southwest part of the garden and gets full sun.
Thank You, I just found some and had to look up this information, and, there you are. Salute !!!
👋🏽You’re welcome!☺️
There is some fascination with these Cabbage Butterfly worms, also known as imported cabbageworm. Outdoors they seem to stay smaller around 2 inches but if you ever have the pleasure of having some come indoors, these worms can grow up to a massive size of 5"+ long! They have a seemingly insatiable appetite but strong plants can recover fairly well if not totally stripped of leaves. The outdoor worms just do not grow as big and they will only harm beneficial larvae but not beneficial flyers, such as the mighty lacewing.
That’s interesting, never seen them get that big. Thanks for sharing!
Was there ever a video update on these? I have some seedlings right now that around about 2 weeks old and I’m wondering when I should transfer them to their individual pots.
Hi! I didn’t get around to recording an update, but we have some new seedlings that I’ll be separating and transplanting some into individual pots with a diameter of 2.5” then transplant again when their roots start to grow out of the bottom. Each can grow 18-24” tall, I think the final pot will be a 5 gallon size, you can do 3 gallon to keep it compact. The seedlings are still too small but I’ll share the process when I transplant them after they’re over 1 inch tall and have at least a set of true leaves.
Thanks! What kind of shelf life do you get in the mason jars? Any recommendations on sealing techniques?
You’re welcome! The garlic powder still smells strong after 2 years in the kitchen cupboard away from direct light. The ones I made four years ago are still potent as well. A cool dark and dry place should prolong its shelf life. The lids I used made for the jars works just fine. For long term storage, you can store the powder in a Mylar bag with a food grade silica gel packet and should last ten years. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!
@@LearnToGrow1 Thank you. 😊
You’re welcome! Have a great rest of your week! ☺️
Can't believe the birds don't eat your figs! The garden is awesome. Always. Glad you're planting glads! (one of my favorites) Love the Lilies, too... apples and plums --healthy and gorgeous. What an incredible variety.
Not yet, but they will when they start to ripen. I try to cover the figs with organza bags. The squirrels ate most of them last year!😩 Love glads too and the bees go crazy for them! I’m glad you enjoyed the garden walk, thank you!❤️😍
How nice to eat off the bush !!!
Absolutely is! So fresh and delicious! Thank you Gene!
How do you protect from birds and chipmunks?
Hi! We usually put up a netting, but we didn’t get around to it this year. Thankfully, they’re more abundant this season and the birds still get their share. There’s also a mesh type netting you can use. Thanks for stopping by!
Yuuuuum
Thanks for stopping by!

Beautiful and bountiful. These are the only berries I don’t have good luck with growing.
Thank you! I’m sorry to hear that. Which growing zone are you in?
👍👍👍
Thanks Mike! Have a good weekend!
I love seeing how many flowers are in your garden, especially herbs you let flower! So good for the pollinators! Did you graft that 5-way apple yourself? My garden is struggling this year, so it's nice to see yours so vibrant!
Thank you so much! We bought the 5-way apple tree from Costco last year. We had a a week and a half of hot weather, but it cooled down pretty quickly. I hope your garden recovers soon! Thanks for watching! 💚
Hi, I am trying to find any info why are you cutting the leaves as well with scissors? Top of the leaves I mean. I've seen this done everywhere but not sure why it is done? Thank you!
Hi! It’s to reduce transpiration or water loss through the leaves so the cutting doesn’t dry up during propagation. You don’t have to cut them, just leave the top two leaves on. Thanks for watching!
@@LearnToGrow1 Thank you so much for such a fast reply, and thank you for the videos :)

Thank you for the tour of your beautiful garden!
You’re welcome Tricia and thank you for watching!
Such a beautiful garden you have sis 😍❤
Thank you sis!❤️
Great tour. The heat was bad this year for my tomatoes. However i purchased shade cloth for next year hopefully.
Thank you! Yes it was. Our young tomato plants were stressed from the heat two weeks ago, but they’ve recovered and are starting to flourish. The shade cloth should help and can bring the temperature down 5-10 F. Have a great rest of your week!
@@LearnToGrow1 Thank you. You as well.
